The 5th Campaign: House Hunting
As noted by GM Suleiman Russel…
Episode one: Encounters on the road.
After the sudden reappearance of Geniveve and the theft of the House, Mr Flow, a representative of the mysterious organization known as Rooks shows up to tell the party that their road runs along two paths. One group continues to address the Drow problem, while the other splits off on a new path, to try and get the house back from Geniveve. Flow can only give the party one breadcrumb of information: A mysterious wizard, named Lithriel, can guide them to the house, but who or what Lithriel is, or where in the vast city of Waterdeep, is anybody's guess. She uses powerful magics to hide from the Gods themselves. On the road, the party is ambushed by a group of goblin spider-riders led by a group of Drow. Mid-way into the fight, a dimensional gate opens up, revealing Platinum Blonde, dimension-hopping super hero, and her nemesis - the nefarious Doctor Dryder. Apparantly this was all part of some larger plan, as the nefarious doctor battles with Platinum Blonde only long enough to lock a power-nullifying collar around her neck, before laughing nefariously and retreating, covered by her trio of snipers. Unnoticed by the two battling beauties, a third person slipped through the vortex, a mysterious alien priestess sent on a quest by her Goddess, the virgin Artemis, to cleanse an abomination which afflicts the moon.
Episode Two: The search for Lithriel
Arriving at Waterdeep, the party spends some time soaking up local flavor and gathering rumors regarding this mysterious spellslinger. A few side adventures happen, but it was a pretty sedate session.
Episode Three: Through the Bone Gate
Having successfuly convinced to help, Lithriel reveals a gateway in the City of the Dead, the great necropolis outside of waterdeep, which leads to a vast extradimensional ossuary. She has noticed something strange inthis realm, a house unlike any of the old mausoleums erected there, which must he the house they seek. She gives them a map, and a helpful warning to stay on the path.
The Ossuary is a dimensional pocket the size of a large city, a vast cavernous expanse literally miles across, with nothing in it that was not brought in from outside. The cavern is filled with an unimaginable number of skeletons. They are piled up in heaps and drifts, along with great stone monuments to the memories of beings dead long before. Even the soil under the gravel paved paths is nothing more than dust ground from the edges of millions of bones. Descending
into the murky glom of this place, the party (despite a few attempts) remain safely on the path - although, wherever they go, the shades of the dead follow after in silent throngs, begging for votive offerings that have not been given to them in thousands of years. Skirting around for many miles, the party finally comes to the mysterious house - and realise, much to their chagrine, that it is not on the path.
Thankfully, the power of Artemis manages to shield the party from harm at the hands of the unquiet dead. Climbing up a hill that appears to be a massive pile of infant skulls, the party finds that this is indeed Hobb's House, and that they have arrived on the back porch. Entering the kitchen, the party encrounters a strange sight - a thing, like a man-sized prawn with a head like a huge pink walnut that writhe and twist in disturbing ways (who, in a concession to human modesty, was wearing a trenchcoat and fedora) was standing in the kitchen brewing a large pot of something dubious looking. Human brains inside of storage containers that look suspiciously like pickle jars were arguing fashion in the cupboard, and in the dining room, a strange assortment of beings were having a drug party. Various potables are sampled, a book is read that should not be read, and various surreal conversations take place, after which, the players are given direction to what they hope to be their ultimate dstination: The Temple of the Moon, and an audience with the veiled seer, Tawil Atumir.
Thats it. The party was last seen having jumped through a dimensional portal, and are now standing on the airless void of Earth's moon.
