| Once
upon a time...
Once upon a time, in a
time before the birth of the world, there was a Phantom Kingdom, a land
of demons, ghosts, and ancient evil. This land had been created
by the vile will of a dead Wizard who sought to become a God.
In his quest for
Apotheosis he trapped long dead gods and devils, and discovered the
Founding Stone. But in so doing, he unleashed his own doom.
Unto the Phantom
Kingdom appeared Bloodstone, the first City, home of the Pure Heart.
With it came hope.
Those of the Pure
Heart joined forces with the God-bearers, and set free the Flesh of the
Founding Stone. The Founding Stone invoked the Lord of the Dead,
the Lord of Strife, the Lord of Change.
Unto the Phantom
Kingdom came Tholuk, and he cracked open the God-bearers like clams and
drew forth the Lords of Law and of Chaos. He took the shells of the
Bearers and made the first Champions. He sent forth the
Handmaidens to usher in the birth of creation.
And so it was to pass
that the last shell was shorn from the last Handmaiden, the Fortress
Forlorn was shattered, the womb of the world was rent and Ashlan the
Golden was born.
Thus was the world
made real.
Ashlan breathed and
oceans poured forth to sweep over the earth. Ashlan breathed, and
forests grew across hilltop and valley. Ashlan breathed, and all manner
of bird and beast flew and hopped and ran and swam across the world.
The Proud Heart
spilled forth from the great city of Bloodstone, and took the lands for
their own. But they were not the only ones. Into this world
crawled all the dark things that had been held so long in the Phantom
realms. Under the cloak of Father Night they slipped off into the
dark recesses of the world to await the day they might call the world
their own.
A great battle, the
first battle drove forth the demons and forbidden gods, and rent the
earth. Tholuk ripped forth the Founding Stone and made the Moon, the
Sun, and the 7 Higher Worlds, and sent them spinning. From the ruins of
Bloodstone grew a holy tree, and this mighty tree grew to tie together
Shekhenah with her sister worlds.
Thus was the Dawn Age,
when Law and Chaos struggled to shape the world, and the First
Champions wandered the Land.
